OSAT GCC PRE-FUNK - Tiger Mountain Meeting

Nook Trail-West Tiger 3-West Tiger 2

DECEMBER 22, 2024

*** THIS HIKE IS NOT REQUIRED ***

This hike is open first to 2025 GCC Students who have not completed their December Tiger Mountain Meeting requirement.  Other GCC Students, Instructors, or general OSAT members are welcome to register within 48 hours prior to the hike if spots are available.

Join us for a hike and fellowship while doing your Tiger Meeting requirement!  We'll start in the Tiger Mountain Parking lot and take the Nook Trail to West Tiger 3 to attend the Sunday morning OSAT meeting.  This is a steeper route than the regular West Tiger 3 trail gaining approx. 2,000 ft in 2 miles.

Depending on our time coming up the Nook we will tag West Tiger 2 before or after the meeting before heading back down to the parking lot either via the West Tiger 3 trail or the K3-Tiger Mountain trail.

Distance:
approx. 6 miles
Elevation:
2165 ft
High Point:
2759 ft (West Tiger #2 Summit)
Pace: moderate pace, approx. 2 mph
Meeting Place/Time: High Point Trailhead Parking Lot, 7:30am
26415 SE 79th St, Issaquah, WA 98027
Meet by the parking lot entrance closest to the large trailhead kiosk
We will depart the parking lot at 7:45am
Duration: 5-6 hours including time to attend the meeting
Return Time:
2:00 pm at the latest, likely closer to 1:00 pm
What to Bring:
10-essentials, snack, water, weather appropriate clothing, change of base-layer/shirt, extra layers to stay warm during the meeting, traction (Microspikes suggested) for possible icy conditions.
Passes Required:
Discover Pass is required for parking in the parking lot.  Roadside Free Parking is available on 79th St. with a 0.3 connector trail leading to the parking lot.  If parking on 79th please give yourself adequate time to walk to the main parking lot and be mindful it may still be a little dark as you are starting.

Trailhead Directions:

From the WTA: From Seattle, take I-90 east to exit 20 for High Point Way. At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right at the stop sign and then immediately turn right again. You will now be traveling west, paralleling I-90 on your right. You'll likely be passing cars parked along this part of the road — it's popular here because no permit is required.

However, it's best practice to park in the lot. And the true parking area is just another half mile or so through a gate and along a paved road. Arrive in the official Department of Natural Resources parking lot where a Discover Pass is required.
