Blue Glacier Backpacking Trip

August 13th-16th, 2026

Come join us as we set out to make contact with the Blue Glacier on Mt Olympus and (if we're lucky) get a sky show during the Perseid Meteor shower. We we will not be summitting but we will get some close up views of Olympus and the infamous Blue Glacier. On our journey we will walk through beautiful rainforest, following the Hoh River for the first 2 days, with only 1600ft of gain. That will be our highest camp,  but if you have your sights set on seeing the Blue Glacier like I do, we will climb 2500ft in a little over 3 miles. This section opens up to views and includes a washout that is navigated by a ladder and rope.

DAY 2= 5.4 mi to Elk Lake (1600 gain)
**day 2 after we get to camp or day 3 before we leave Elk Lake (optional: 6.2m/ 2500^ (RT) to Blue Glacier)
