2004 marked the 14th consecutive year that OSAT members safely climbed, and held meetings on some of the loftiest peaks in the Pacific Northwest, such as Mount Rainier. In 2005, OSAT would like you to join in the fun and fellowship as we once again head for the summit!
This course is designed for people who enjoy the outdoors and want to learn more about, and participate in, mountaineering and glacier travel. During the 5 month course, students will learn equipment selection and usage, group safety, map & compass skills, proper ice-axe use, roped travel, crevasse rescue, and snow camping. The only requirement is a desire to learn and have fun! Registration is by mail only and limited to the first 45 individuals.
You may obtain a registration form by clicking here and downloading the Acorbat file (PDF).
The first seminar will be held on Tuesday February 8th at 6:15p.m. at the Seattle REI store. Additional seminars will take place on the second Monday of March - June. Field trips will take place monthly on various weekends from February through June. Glacier climbs are scheduled throughout the summer.
Completion of the course requires attendance at all of the seminars and field trips.
The Course Fee is $25.00, plus $12.00 membership dues to OSAT, the club.
