2012 Glacier Climbing Course

Registration for the annual OSAT Glacier Climbing Course (GCC) is closed for the 2012 course. Check back in December 2012 to register for the 2013 GCC.

This course is for members in a 12-step recovery program and their friends and family. Course registration is limited by the number of students we can safely teach with our current club volunteer resources.

The GCC is designed for people who enjoy the outdoors and want to learn more about, and participate in, mountaineering and glacier travel. During the 6-month course, students will learn equipment selection and usage, group safety, map & compass skills, proper ice-axe use, roped travel, crevasse rescue, and snow camping. The only requirement is a desire to learn and have fun!

All field trips and seminars require 100% attendance or completion of the course.

This also includes graduation climbs of Mt Baker, Mt Rainier, and others.

Mandatory seminars, lectures, and field trips take place from February - June. Glacier climbs are scheduled throughout the summer.
