2010 Glacier Climbing Course

Registration for the 2010 Glacier Course is now closed as we have filled all available spots. If you are not a member, join OSAT now so you can participate in non-glacier climbing events with the club this year, and then enroll in the 2011 Glacier Climbing Course.

This course is for members in a 12-step recovery program and their friends and family. Course registration is limited by the number of students we can safely teach with our current club volunteer resources.

This course is designed for people who enjoy the outdoors and want to learn more about, and participate in, mountaineering and glacier travel. During the 5-month course, students will learn equipment selection and usage, group safety, map & compass skills, proper ice-axe use, roped travel, crevasse rescue, and snow camping. The only requirement is a desire to learn and have fun!

All field trips and seminars require 100% attendance for completion of the course.

This also includes graduation climbs of Mt Baker, Mt Rainier, and others.

Mandatory seminars, lectures, and field trips take place from February - June. Glacier climbs are scheduled throughout the summer.

ATTENTION ALL PAST OSAT GCC GRADUATES -- be sure to plan on helping with the 2010 climbing course as an instructor, instructor-in-training, and/or mentor.  All that is required is your experience and a desire to serve ang give back to the next generation of OSAT climbers.  Contact ogcc@osat.org, and/or plan to attend the next class seminar (see the calendar for date and info).
